Rene VanDeVoorde presents the 2015 VanDeVoorde Family Scholarship to Anna Ahrens and the Karen VanDeVoorde Memorial Scholarship to Benjamin Coleman. Long-time SFIRC Board Member Karen VanDeVoorde died in 2014. The memorial award is funded by contributions from the community and the SFIRC Board of Directors in recognition of Karen's devotion and contributions to Indian River county students and families over her long career as a educator and volunteer.

This picture was taken at the 2007 Awards Ceremony. Peggy died in 2011 in Tuscon, AZ at the age of 80. A memorial scholarshp in her name is now awarded annually.
